Choose your type

Operating vs. non-operating reefers

Not every buyer needs active cooling. Knowing which type fits your job can save you thousands.

Operating reefer

Powered, active refrigeration

Fully working cooling unit, holds roughly -20°F to +65°F
Needs a 3-phase, 460V power connection on site
Best for cold or frozen storage, cold-chain and daily access
Available new (one-trip) or used, to buy or rent

Non-operating reefer

No power, insulated box

Cooling unit is disabled and used as a sealed, insulated room
No electrical hookup required, lower purchase price
Great for dry goods, gear and moisture-sensitive storage
Stainless interior stays easy to clean and rust-resistant

FAQ

Refrigerated container questions

What temperature range do refrigerated containers hold?

Most refrigerated shipping containers hold temperatures from about -20°F up to +65°F — covering deep-freeze, standard refrigeration, and cool-but-not-frozen storage such as produce or flowers.

What power does a reefer need?

Refrigerated containers typically require a 3-phase, 460V connection. If 3-phase power is not available at your site, we can advise on generator options or power conversion so the unit runs reliably.

Can I rent a refrigerated container instead of buying?

Yes. We offer both purchase and rental options. Renting is ideal for seasonal demand, special events, or short-term projects where you only need cold storage for a limited time.

What is a non-operating (non-op) reefer?

A non-op reefer is an insulated container whose refrigeration unit no longer runs. It cannot actively cool, but the heavy foam insulation makes it far more temperature-stable than a standard dry container — at a lower price.

Do you deliver refrigerated containers across California?

Absolutely. We deliver throughout Los Angeles and to 100+ cities across California, positioning the unit on your site with our own fleet for fast, reliable service.
