Real reviews from our Google Business Profile & Facebook. Read our Google reviews →

On the way back from picking up parts we finally stopped by since we drive past it a lot. Solid spot — the guy working was super helpful and got us in and out quick with the container we needed. Prices seemed fair compared to what everyone else charges online.

Worked over a weekend to get us a modified shipping container ahead of schedule at a reasonable price. This company is the best!

Where you can put a container in Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita does not use the words “shipping container” anywhere in its code. It says “metal storage container,” and the rules live in three places: § 17.67.030(N) for temporary use, § 17.57.040(C) for residential zones, and § 17.53.030(E) for commercial and industrial.

RuleWhat the city requires
Temporary usePermitted for a period not to exceed 90 days. Anything longer requires a minor use permit
Residential zonesProhibited “unless they meet the design standards of this code” (§ 17.57.040(C))
Commercial and industrialSubject to a temporary use permit under § 17.23.200
Extended temporary use permitMaximum 5 years, approved by the Planning Commission
Accessory setback (rear yards)Minimum 5 feet from property lines
SeparationMinimum 6 feet between accessory buildings
How many1 on parcels under 20,000 sq ft · 2 from 20,000 sq ft to 1 acre · 3 at 1 acre or larger

The 90-day clock is the number that catches people out. A container delivered for a remodel is fine; a container that quietly becomes permanent storage is a code enforcement letter. If you know from the start that it is staying, apply for the minor use permit before it arrives rather than after.

Santa Clarita has over 20 sound stages and more than 10 movie ranches, and a large share of the containers that land here are for production storage. If yours is going onto a set or a ranch for a shoot, the 90-day temporary window usually covers it — but the property owner, not the production, is the one the city writes to. Sort out who is holding the permit before delivery day.

Container delivery in Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita is a valley city with steep edges. The flat parts are easy and the hillside parts are not, and which one you are on matters more than how far away you are.

  • Valencia and the industrial centre — planned streets, wide turning radii, level pads. Straightforward tilt-bed deliveries.
  • Movie ranches and production sites — long unpaved approach roads, cattle guards and gates. Measure the gate at its narrowest point, posts included, and tell us the surface of the last half mile.
  • Canyon Country and hillside lots — grade is the issue. A tilt-bed unloads by sliding a container off a raised bed; on a slope it goes where gravity sends it, not where you want it. Steep sites are usually a crane or side-loader job.
  • Newer tract neighbourhoods — standard driveways, but HOA rules here are common and are separate from city rules. Check both.

You need roughly 60 feet of straight clear run for a 20ft and 100–120 feet for a 40ft, plus 14 feet of overhead clearance the whole way in. Our full container delivery guide covers site prep, the three ways a container comes off a truck, and the eight things that most often go wrong on the day.

Send a photo of the approach and the drop spot before you order. On a graded or unpaved site that one photo decides which truck we send.

FAQ

Santa Clarita container questions, answered

+How fast can you deliver a container in Santa Clarita?
Santa Clarita sits inside our core service area, so delivery is usually within a few business days and we can usually work around a project schedule rather than the other way round. Timing depends on the size and condition you need and on site access. Quotes come back same day with the window confirmed.
+Can I rent a container for the length of a build instead of buying?
Yes, and for most contractors that is the right call. Rental covers you for the duration of the job, we deliver and collect on our own trucks, and there is nothing to resell at the end. If you run back-to-back projects and the container would simply move between them, buying usually costs less over a couple of years. Tell us the timeline and we will say which way is cheaper for you.
+Can a shipping container be set up as a construction site office?
Yes. We modify units in our own shop rather than subcontracting it out — personnel doors, windows, lighting, electrical, climate control, and shelving. A 20ft unit makes a workable single-crew office; a 40ft high cube gives room for plans, a meeting table, and secure tool storage at one end. Lead time depends on the spec, so bring us in early on time-sensitive projects.
+Can you place a container on a partially graded or hillside pad?
Often, yes, but it depends on the approach. A tilt-bed truck needs roughly 100 feet of straight clearance to unload and a reasonably firm, reasonably level spot to set down on. Fresh fill, steep grades, and soft graded pads are the usual complications on Santa Clarita Valley sites. Send us the pad location and access route and we will tell you before delivery day whether it works.
+Do I need a permit to place a container on a Santa Clarita job site?
Usually it depends on how long it stays and whether the site is already permitted for construction. Temporary containers supporting active construction are generally treated differently from permanent accessory structures, and requirements differ between the City of Santa Clarita and unincorporated Los Angeles County areas such as Castaic, Val Verde, and Acton. Check with the relevant planning counter — we can supply placement documentation to support the application.
+Do you supply containers for film and television production?
Yes. The Santa Clarita Valley hosts a large share of Los Angeles-area location filming, and productions use containers for set dressing storage, equipment security, and lockable on-location space. We can supply for the length of a shoot and collect afterwards. Tell us the location and dates and we will work to the production schedule.
+How much are shipping containers in Santa Clarita?
Prices depend on size, condition and delivery distance. Enter your delivery ZIP code in the pricing box on this page (or send it with your quote request) and we will show current delivered pricing for new one-trip and used containers, plus monthly rental rates. Found a lower written quote? Send it to us and we will match it.
+Do you deliver to Valencia, Newhall, Castaic and Canyon Country?
Yes — the whole Santa Clarita Valley, including Valencia, Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Val Verde, Sand Canyon, Agua Dulce, and Acton. Send the delivery ZIP and we will price it.

We also deliver to: Burbank, Thousand Oaks and Los Angeles. We also serve Pasadena. We also serve buyers across the rest of the state — see every city on our shipping containers for sale in California page.
