Where you can put a container in Torrance
Torrance has no container ordinance. We read Division 9 Chapter 2 in full, the Division 9 chapter index and Division 7 Chapter 4, and found nothing regulating cargo, shipping or storage containers. A container on a Torrance lot is judged as an accessory building.

The one-foot rear setback is unusually generous by Southern California standards, but it is conditional on the wall facing the boundary being a one-hour rated wall with no openings — which a standard container is not. In practice most Torrance placements fall back to the 3-to-5-foot side setback.
